This morning’s IUG 2009 keynote speaker was Michael Johnson from Pixar. As he described Pixar’s development process, he shared several nuggets about the way employees work through their iterative process. Sounds like a fascinating environment.

Art as team sport.

Culture of constructive criticism.

Fail fast, fail often, so you can succeed sooner.

51% of a good artist is "plays well with others.”

The criticism becomes about the work, not the person.

"Giving a good note."

Point out the problem.

Propose a solution.

Give it in a timely manner.

Story drives everything – Best idea wins.
